Why is it so hard for educated liberals to empathize with Trump supporters?

The autistic author Sparrow R. Jones said it well:  I am not mad at you that Clinton lost. I am unconcerned that we have different politics. And I don’t think less of you because you vote one way and I vote another. No… I think less of you because you watched an adult mock a disabled person in front of a crowd and still supported him. I think less of you because you saw a man spouting clear racism and backed him. I think less of you because you listened to him advocate for war crimes, and still thought he should run this country. I think less of you because you watched him equate a woman’s worth to her appearance and got on board. It isn’t your politics that I find repulsive. It is your personal willingness to support racism, sexism, and cruelty. You sided with a bully when it mattered and that is something I will never forget. So, no… you and I won’t be “coming together” to move forward or whatever. Trump disgusts me, but it is the fact that he doesn’t disgust you that will stick with me long after this election.

I completely understand what Marc Whitaker is feeling. But the saying that politics make strange bed fellows is not without merit. What President Elect Trump said and did, and in the manner he did them, was rude and crude. Many Republicans voted for him as they held their nose. They did not vote for the man but his agenda. For eight years Republicans had policies shoved down their throats by far left Liberals. The political correct nonsense, their liberal policies, Clinton’s private emails erased 30,000 emails (while Nixon only erased 18 ½ minutes) and had to leave office. When it comes to running the State Department, Hillary’s biggest achievement was getting a US Ambassador and 3 other Americans killed, by pretending terrorism had been defeated…and her words still echo…”what difference does it make?” Remember…Fast & Furious – 3/22/11, SOLYNDRA’S BANKRUPTCY – 7/15/11, DOJ Subpoena Scandal – 5/14/13, Obama Website Glitches 10/23/13, NSA Spying on German Chancellor – 10/27/13, Veteran’s Affairs Scandal – 5/19/14, Clinton Private Emails –20/15 and her despicable willingness to abort full term babies. The list can go on and on, but I think it is clear that the country was split because of politics and we all had to pick one of the worse two candidates ever. For many the sanctity of life won out.
