Forgiveness we are commanded to give (1)
Remembering no more is harder to live
Memories come swift and fast
Flooding your mind with the past.
The pain stings you like a knife
Our old emotions come back to life
Images and thoughts rush in your mind
Painful memories are all you can find (2)
How do we continue to forgive
When people rarely change within
Forgive them seventy times seven (3)
This we are instructed from Heaven
Offenses come back to haunt
Memories so clear they taunt
Becoming overcome and guilt ridden (4)
Unable to keep our shame hidden
Though we were forgiven and forgave
Those memories come forth to deprave
Lord you forgive us just because we ask
Remembering no more for us is a task (5)
Father heal our wounds deep within
Renew our minds without our sin (6)
