We are sorry Lord that we nailed you to the cross.
The pain that we feel leaves us at a loss.
You were ridiculed and beaten and you bled and died.
We crowned you with thorns and pierced your side. (1)
You bore the sins for all of us who will ever live.
You suffered for our sake and what do we give.
We are sorry Lord that you took our blame.
We are mortified that you felt our shame
You carried the cross alone to the hill.
Condemned to die doing God’s will.
We pound another nail every time we sin.
Your body was bruised without a broken limb. (2)
In our thoughts and deeds we cause you pain.
Help us Lord so that your death was not in vain.
